British Aerosol Manufacturers' Association (BAMA) has unveiled changes in aerosol regulations and labeling for its Retail Liaison Group in its annual meeting.

The BAMA Retail Liaison Group comprises technical representatives from many of the major retailers in the UK which include the grocery, pharmacy and DIY retail chains.

Through the network, experts provide information to retailers about the new changes concerning the aerosol industry and discuss concerns of the retailers.

The meeting focused on multiple areas such as counterfeiting, Aerosol Dispenser Directive (ADD), and The European Regulation on classification.

Topics related to labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP) including labeling changes, and guidance on warehousing and handling requirements were also highlighted in the meeting.

The group particularly emphasized on how the Aerosol Dispenser Directive 2013/10/EU amends Directive 75/324/EEC to align with CLP. It will be implemented gradually with the first stage in the process which will commence on 19 March 2014 for a phased scheme completion in June 2017.

Retailers have also been advised that the new CLP guidance published will help companies manage the transition to the new labeling system.
